Ap Lang Reading

I love reading. It’s absolutely phenomenal! I could get lost in a book so easily and never want to come out. I’ve even had to have my mom take my book away from me, just so that I would come down and eat my dinner. This happens when I am reading an amazing book, and I am reading my choice. This doesn’t happen when I am being told to read and having to read a book that is as boring as watching the grass grow.

If you haven’t guessed what I am talking about yet, let me get you in on the rant, It’s AP Lang reading. It is so dumb! Not only are we supposed to blog 1200 words a week in three separate blog posts, but we also have to read 100 pages! It’s complete horse manure! I have a life outside of a language arts class. I’m in sports, I’m in show choir and speech. On top of all of that, I have other classes too! I don’t have time to be doing all of that crap!

Now remember, I love reading. It’s great, it’s like T.V. in your head. But when you are forced to read, it takes all the joy out of it. It feels more like a chore than something that is for enjoyment. Then on top of that, the book choices are freaking terrible. I am personally a factional reader. Fiction is amazing because you can do anything with it. But, the books that we have to choose from are probably some of the most boring books on the face of the earth. Then there are the non-fiction ones. Those ones could probably win an award for most pointless topics to write about.  Then the fact that we have to read them because we are being told to makes them even worse.

Then after the hell of reading a boring ass book, we have to freaking analyze it! Why not just put me out of my misery and push me off a cliff. Doing an analysis of a book that I didn’t even want to read in the first place is the worst thing that you could make me do. It’s like Ms. A was trying to find what exactly she can have that will make me go insane.

You know what they say, if you can’t beat them, join them. Well I say screw that! I haven’t done one of those yet. I am still on page 43 of a book that I got in September. I may be 1057 pages behind what I need to be at. But hey, I’m still doing fine in that class.
