Musical

Best decision that I have done so far in high school. The past two years in the spring I have preoccupied my time with playing track and field. Oh what a mistake that was. I don't even know why I did it. I am not the fastest, I can't jump the furthest, can't jump the highest, and can't run the furthest. There was literally no spot for me in track. So, I went with something different. Something I thought I'd never get caught up in. I went with the Kennedy spring musical.
When I tried out I thought I bombed the audition. When the results came out and I didn't see my name at first, I wasn't even mad because I thought I messed up so bad. Then someone pointed me out and I was Joe! I made it! I signed up for only the chorus but they decided to give me a part in it! I had never done a musical before so I didn't even think I'd get in, let alone a speaking part. That was my entry into the musical world.
The play we did was the Pajama Game. It is about a pajama factory in Cedar Rapids that is undergoing management. The help are all complaining that they aren't getting a 7 1/2 cent raise like the rest of the factory's around. In response to this they start doing their work very sloppily. Not seeing things on right or slowing down the process of making them. It eventually leads to a strike by the workers.
Practice started and it was intense. We danced for the first four days to learn the choreography for the chorus numbers. Man the sucked. We got placed depending on how fast we learned the dances. Then after all of that was done we started on the music.
Oh the music! It was awesome! Every song that we did was so catchy! They were easy to learn too. Each vocal part had the same notes for every song so essentially we picked up on them very easily.
My favorite song was the pajama game. It was so catchy and for some reason every time I sing it I want to put it to a trap remix. I personally think that it would be a hit, but hey, that's just me.
The show is coming together very nicely and I can't wait for performance days. I think everyone will like all of the singing and dancing. And being a Kennedy play, we threw some funny bits in here and there. I hope to see everyone there!

Nashville

Have you ever been to Nashville? Well, this past weekend, I did! Let me tell you this, it was freaking awesome! It was one of the best trips that I have ever been on. It renewed my like for country music, and I thought that would never happen again. It came with a little depressed time because of the actions of a couple friends, but eventually I got over that. I wasn’t gonna let that ruin my trip.
On the way down there, there was a lot of sleep, a lot of music, and a couple movies. I listened to my music for like four of the 12 hours that the bus ride was. Just to get used to the whole country thing in Nashville, I listened to my country playlist on my phone. It consisted of all of the country that my childhood was filled with. I liked it of course, but they weren’t my favorite songs, but it reminded me of what I knew. Then there were the movies, we watched Napoleon Dynamite (dumbest movie ever) and Inside Out (amazing movie).
Then there were the show choirs that we watched once we got there. Most of the girl groups that we watched sucked something awful. Except for one. That on, Los Alaminos all girls group, could have beaten Happiness if they were in our division. I’m just glad that they weren’t.
The night passes and it’s morning. We get up and we have to practice for our performance. After that, we have to get on over to the Grand Ol’ Opry. There we watch more show choirs. As this time goes on, I get more and more nervous. We performed and it was all over. We get back to the seats and we had awards to sit through. We ended up making finals and it was freaking awesome.

Then as the night drew on, I went down to downtown Nashville. Holy crap was that amazing. There were bands in every bar that we went to. Music filled my ears and the smell of food and cigarettes filled my nose.

Boat Rides

You can't have a boat ride without music. It's literally unamerican to not have music on one. I garuntee you won't find a boat without music. Boat rides are pretty fantastic. The wind through your hair, it pressing to your skin threatening to throw you out of the boat at any moment. The thrill of being in the open going 50  mph and the bouncing up and down on the waves. But the music. The music is what unites all of those good things that a boat ride brings you.
It starts at the dock. The ride is about to begin. The boat is slowly being lowered into the water by the boat lift. Everyone clumsily gets in once the boat is in the water. And you're off. Sitting in the front of the boat, the wind boxing your ears so all it is is you, the wind, the thrill, and the water. You are sitting quietly, smiling slightly to yourself thinking how amazing that moment is. So peaceful, so precious. Then, like a baseball breaking the window. Music. It crashes through your mind. Not in a bad way, more like a gentle crash, if there's such a thing. It makes the moment better. It makes that smile grow even bigger.
Music has this effect. It makes everything better, even something like a boat ride. A boat ride in itself is awesome, but with music it's so much better. With music a boat ride seems like a party. Everyone sings along if they know it and there are those select few who sing by themselves because they are the only ones who know the song. It's so great. It's a moment in life that you will cherish forever. It's one of musical many powers, it's power to help remember.
Music is amazing. Anyone who says differently can go somewhere not so pleasant. It makes boat rides an event to remember. It will make you want to have more and more. I can't wait till I can have my moments like that.

Rock 'n' Roll

I'm a simple man with simple tastes. I like a lot of things. Food, movies, books, show choir, and most of all, music. It's the best. There isn't one thing that I like more than music. I don't know of another thing that makes me more happy than music either. It's like magic the way it captures me. There is one type that I think is above all. Above the crap that is today's music. Above Americans favorite music genre, country. No no. It's much better than all of that. It has many different types too. It has soft, hard, head banging, and classic. I, talking about rock 'n' roll!
Yes yes you heard me. I love it! It's amazing! I love it so much that I can't remember a day this whole year that I wasn't listening to it. I listen to it in the shower, in the car, in my parents cars, at school, in the showers at school and basically everywhere else. You can judge me all you want but that's what I do. Listening to it enhances my mood. There is a little give and take though. As in if I'm in a bad mood I will tend to listen to soft rock and that will keep me in a bad mood. Or if I'm angry I'll put on some godsmack or avenged sevenfold and I will stay angry and it will fill me with more hate than what I already was. Or, like I usually am, I'll be in a good mood and I'll put on basically anything and that will just keep my mood good. It's pretty great.
Then there are the classics! Oh god. They are amazing! No matter what mood I'm in, they will put me in a good mood. I don know what it is about them, but they always do that. I will uncontinuously catch myself smiling for no apparent reason and that makes me smile even bigger. I wish that I grew up in my parents age where that was the usual music people listened to. It would be great!
Rock 'n' roll is amazing. There's nothing like it. It will always be around. It has been since the 50s and has only gotten bigger. I will forever love it.

Radio

The radio is the most over rated thing in the world. I don't understand how people can stand it anymore. It's pissed me off so badly that it forced me to get a music adapter for my car. I couldn't handle it anymore. But, I am not forced into a predicament. My adapter broke, and I am forced to listen to the radio again. Let me explain why this is such a bad situation.
First of all, today's music sucks major booty. It is annoying and dumb and stupid and every synonym there is for the word crappy. I cant stand it. It's all about sex money and drugs. Where is the meaning in that! No idea. I've actually been so mad at the music that is on and yelled at the radio. No one could hear me...thank god... But still. I didn't know that us as humans can go about and make music that is the equivilant to dog crap.
Then there are the ads. Oh the ads. The glimps of hell that radio gives you. Ads take up so much of my very needed time to listen to music and it's rediculous. How can radios play that many ads in a row and have the people playing them still sleep at night. It should haunt them to their very souls knowing that they are pissing everyone off who is listening. I couldn't give two flying craps about what the Marion used car superstore has to offer me! Same with all the stupid weight programs that they are trying to get me on. I like my weight. I don't need no ad telling me that I need to lose weight to be happy! I'm happy with how I look, so back the frack up jack.
Then there also seems to be communication between all of my favorite radio stations. It seems to me that every station I go onto knows that I'm about to go and drive so they all decide to either put up some dumb booty song or go to commercial! Seriously. They are pronbably all like, "hey guys, brandon is getting into his car, lets ruin his day with an ad or a Taylor swift song!" I don't have any other explanation for it either.
In conclusion. Radio sucks. If you like it. You're wrong. If you agree with me, then you are someone I might be able to get along with.

Kingsmen

Have you ever seen James Bond? If that is the case, then you love spy movies. They are thrilling, exciting, and sometimes sexy. You love the suspense and the twists and turns that the plot takes. You also love all of the cool gadgets that the agents get to carry out their kick ass missions. All of this awesome stuff that goes into James Bond, was also put into another movie. It is almost the best movie I’ve ever seen. It is funny, thrilling, and in one part, very sexy. This movie is Kingsmen.
Kingsmen is about a secret spy organization. No one knows that the agency exists, that’s what makes them so good. In the movie, the Kingsmen are up against the whole world basically. In the beginning, one of the Kingsmen agents was killed. Thus starting the initiation process. That is where Eggsy comes in.

Eggsy was a troubled boy. His dad was killed while he was very young. His dad was actually in the initiation process to become a Kingsmen. His death meant that his mom got married to a guy that is about as worthless as cow poop. So what Eggsy does is rebel against everything. He eventually ends up getting arrested, and using the pin that was given to him while he was young by the Kingsmen agent, he was able to get himself out.

Zootopia

What's the cutest movie that you can think of? I bet you that it is a Disney movie. Disney is amazing. I thought that after all the movies that I watched as a child, they couldn't come up with a movie that is any better. I was very wrong. A couple years ago they came up with frozen, a movie that touches your very soul. Then there is the movie inside out. That movie grips your heart from the beginning, tears it apart, then mends it back together all in less than two hours. Well. They've done it again. They came out with a movie that is right on the nose. It's funny, it's cute, it's suspenseful, it's sad, and did I mention that it was funny? I loved it when I first saw it in theater and I still do. Disneys Zootopia is one hell of a movie.
In this movie, all of the characters are Animals. There is one city where predators and prey life together in peace and harmony, Zootopia. It's a place that all species fit in anywhere.
There is a bunny in one of the territories outfside the city and she wants to be a cop. The problem with that is that no bunny is a Cop. She sets out to prove everyone wrong. She ends up being the first bunny cop ever. But when she is set as a simple traffic cop, she is thrown into the biggest investigation that the police are occupied with. The case is a missing persons case. What she finds out about it is staggering. It's. Thing where the predators are turning savage and attacking people. Well, officer hopps is going to get to the bottom of things. She ends up tracing  lead to the mayor of Zootopia, who is a lion, and has him arrested.
That isn't the end though. There is so much more to it. I don't want to spoil too much for anyone. That's all I can say without giving away too much. I highly recommend that you watch it. It is a movie that anyone can enjoy.

Team America: World Police

Have you ever watched a movie and just thought, "why the hell did I ever decide to watch this?" I have. I was wondering how the hell someone could come up with something so unbelievably stupid. Or why someone would put millions of dollars into something that would ultimately piss everyone off that watches it. But after I watched it, I couldn't get it out of my head. Scene after scene after scene in that movie kept entering and staying in my head and they wouldn't go away. After much thinking, I finally came to the conclusion that it is one of the funniest most pointless movies ever created. This movie is Team America World Police.
The people who created the movie actually almost gave up on it because it was so hard to film. Did I mention the whole movie was made with using puppets? Yeah, puppets. The creators got so annoyed with how hard and annoying it was making the movie. The only problem with this realization is that they thought this half way through filming and millions of dollars into it. So they were forced to go through with finishing the movie. The product was a stupidly funny movie.
The whole thing is basically a racist inappropriate joke. It's all about an overly destructive team of people that try to stop terrorism. The only problem is that every time they try, they destroy a city in the process. It also has kim Jung un in it and he is the terrorists leader. If anyone other than Americans saw the movie, they would be morally offended. Basically anyone who isn't American they were very poorly portrayed and in a very racist way. I personally thought it was hilarious.
So if you are looking for a dumb, funny, racist, over the top movie. This is the one for you.

Deadpool

This movie might actually be one of the best movies ever created. It is amazing, funny, action packed, and has boobs! It had it all. Then the fact that it was from Marvel studios made it that much better! It was rated R, surprising for a Marvel movie, but i can definetly see why it is R, but personally, i dont think i could be as good as it is if they didnt go all the way like they did.

Deadpool once was like you and I, except for the fact that he is an expert merc. He was good at what he did too. But then he found out that he was diagnosed with 4 different types of cancer. Yeah, sucky right. There is a cure though. Except he basically has to be toutured to be cured. Its a process that makes him go through extreme stress and his body will activated inactive mutant genes hiden within him. It did the trick, but the consequence was that he, "looked like the inside of someones asshole." But on the plus side, he can heal very fast and basically cant die.

Arrow

TV shows are getting really dumb. There’s one about the struggles of being 600 pounds and how there life is so bad. Well I think if you didn’t eat so much, you wouldn’t be that fat. There’s the solution to that show. Next. There is also a show about a redneck family who has a daughter that is a model. Who the fuck cares. Honestly. Then we have the show that is about a talking dog that has a blog. Wow, really great idea, Disney. Then there is the good side of TV shows that are about something that is actually interesting. A very good example of this is the TV series, Arrow.
It is one of the best shows that anyone would ever watch. It is full of action, romance, plot twists, and explosions! It is based off of the D.C. Comics super hero Green Arrow. Let me tell you, they did a freaking amazing job.
The main character, Oliver Queen, the son of a billionaire, was stranded on an island for five years, struggling to survive the hell that he was presented with.

Protégé

Oh show choir, the love of my life. The one thing that I do where I can dance and sing my heart out and not have people judge me like I’m a weirdo. I love it. I’ve been doing it since 8th grade where I ended up having a rap solo, and got to do a front flip in the middle of the performance. Ever since then I have loved show choir. It’s my favorite thing to do, I like it even more than football (don’t tell my dad that.) I love singing and dancing, and being in something where I can do that to my full extent, freaking amazing! This love became even more so when I made it into Protégé.
In Protégé I became a better singer and dancer than I ever thought I would be. In the beginning, it was hard. I had to sing better and dance better than I had to the previous year in Chanteurs. Then, with football going on at the same time, I had to catch up with the dancing. I missed most of the choreography camps where we learn how to dance the songs that we sing in our show. I eventually got to where I knew it, but it was hell. It made me frustrated knowing that I didn’t know them at the time, and it made it worse when no one would teach me. Well, I eventually got it down so good that I ended up dancing in all five songs in the front row, which is freaking amazing (four for dancing and one for being short.) I even had people at the end of the year tell me that I was the best guy dancer in Protégé.
From then on, the year got better and better. I tried out for the one solo that I knew that I could do better than most of the guys in the group, the rap solo for Cant Hold Us by Pentatonix. I got it and my ego was instantly boosted. I got praise from my parents, friends, and even upper classmen on how well I did the solo. On top of that, when we did the song, I was up on a box and it looked like I was floating in the middle of a group of people from the audience. I loved it.
Then I when I performed at Prairie Premier, I was awarded with the best male soloist in the prep division. This means that I out performed any other guy soloist at the entire competition. No big deal or anything.

It is also my belief that that solo was a big part in how I got into the Kennedy varsity show choir group, Happiness, the next year.

Harry Potter

He was 12 years of age. He was a normal boy, except for the fact his parents were murdered and he is living with his evil aunt and uncle. He just wanted friends and to be loved, but he couldn’t do that and still live at his aunt and uncle’s house. That all changed when a very big and hairy man literally knocked down the front door. This man told him, “You’re a wizard Harry.” That was the day that Harry Potter was no longer a normal boy, he was the chosen one. Destined to finally end the very essence of the one who can’t be named.
Harry Potter mad his way to Hogwarts, a school for witchcraft and wizardry. Here, he started to learn how to channel his magical energy. Over the years, he got better and better. Some could say that he was the best wizard of his generation. These people would be correct. He would grow up, getting stronger and stronger with his magical abilities.  He didn't do this alone though. He had a little help from his best friends, his teachers, and an extrinsic motivation.
Even before he got to Hogwarts for the first time, he met two people, Ron and Herminie, who would stick by his side throughout his whole experience in becoming an amazing wizard. They met on the train to get to the school, and they instantly hit it off. Ron was a bit weird, always eating and doing stupid things. Herminie was a know-it-all girl who was a mud blood, witch born of two mortal parents. This didn’t stop her in becoming a fantastic witch. These three would eventually change the whole world of witches and wizards.
Harry also had important mentors who would eventually become good friends of Harry. Hagrid would be the biggest one of them all. He was the first wizard to make contact with Harry. He is the one who tells Harry that he is in fact a wizard. He would protect Harry and become a role model for him as well. Another mentor that Harry will have is Remus Lupin, a defense against the dark arts teacher. He would show Harry how to use a Petronas Charm to help save his god father Sirius Black. Then there is Sirius who would be like a father figure to Harry. He would help him through difficult times and situations.

That’s just a few things about Harry Potter that I could say.  I have a lot more that I could say but I think I will save that for another blog.

Netflix and Chill?

Netflix and chill is a sacred thing. It is a place and time where two people, usually in a relationship, come together and have a great time “watching” Netflix. It is a time that should be given to those in a relationship, and should be respected by ones parents. That means, no interrupting and no watching Netflix with them! It’s an intrusion of privacy and necessary alone time with one another is needed. Most of the time this happens and then, said couple, aren’t able to technically Netflix and chill. It sucks, but if you are alone with your person, then I can hook you up with that to do.
If you have the entire day to yourselves and you both feel a little lazy, that is the time to N&C. First you have to lighten the mood. Start with something funny. It’s always good to laugh with each other. It eases any tension that there could be. No tension can sustain when there is laughter in the midst.  Then, you put on something romantic. Get the hormones flowing. Make it so that you guys are close so that you can cuddle the shit out of each other. This makes it so that you trust one another to take it to the second part of Netflix and chill, the chill part. That’s when you start doing the dance with no pants if you know what I mean.
There are different types of this recreational activity. People are so in-imaginative when it comes to this. It doesn’t just have to be Netflix, it can be any type of watching experience. For those of you who don’t like Netflix (losers) can Hulu and hang. Or maybe you are falling behind in Spanish three and you have to catch up on Destinos. That is the point in which you grab your person and Destinos and chill. It is educational, productive, and a good time. Then there are those guys that are gamers. If by chance, you actually get a girlfriend, you can game and chill. You can sit there, enjoy playing your game, while your girlfriend is there replicating a vacuum. Then there is my favorite, Disney movie marathon and chill. You get to live through your childhood with all of your favorite Disney movies, while doing grownup things at the same time.
The possibilities are endless. It’s only a matter of how creative you get with the stuff you watch, and do (each other).
